Bear Mattress Teams up with Good Sports on Charitable Giveback

Today, Bear Mattress is proud to announce a new partnership endeavor with Good Sports  - a charitable organization committed to improving the lives of youth athletes across the country through the donation of equipment, apparel, and footwear. This collaboration will further Bear’s impact in the community, and will help solidify its budding relationship with a charitable partner who shares a common view on the importance of leading a healthy, active life.

“We embark on this collaboration in earnest, and with the full intent of making a positive difference in the lives of young people.” Bear’s founder and CEO Scott Paladini said. “Bear has always placed a big emphasis on the importance of leading a healthy, active lifestyle. For us, this commitment begins with children. Many studies have shown that young people involved in youth sports and/or extra-curricular activities are far more likely to succeed in school, while simultaneously being less susceptible to health related issues such as childhood obesity and diabetes. We’re humbled by the opportunity to help Good Sports continue to succeed at their mission of getting as many kids off the sideline, and into the game as possible.”

Founded in 2003 with a donation of 500 basketballs, Good Sports has grown into a national non-profit organization that has donated over $18 million worth of equipment to 3,000 programs and reaching more than three million children in need across all fifty states. Over the past 14 years, Good Sports has donated over $20 million worth of new sports and fitness equipment to various organizations committed to helping kids stay active.

In the past year alone, Good Sports has provided equipment to over a million children in need through collaborations with various manufacturers, distributors, and funders. Good Sports mission is to get as many kids off the sidelines, and into the game, as possible.

As part of the partnership we will be participating in a 1% giveback of all net proceeds -- meaning that for every Bear sleep product sold, a portion will be going to help Good Sports achieve their goal. Bear's monthly contribution will provide a team with the equivalent of 800 soccer balls, new goal posts, and customized uniforms.

“A percentage of Bear’s proceeds will be donated to Good Sports, allowing more children to partake in sports and fitness opportunities,” said Scott Paladini, CEO and founder of Bear. “Bear was founded with an athletic ethos, and we're big believers in the idea that every child deserves the chance to benefit from the proven physical, social and emotional advantages that youth sports provide.”

To date, Bear has partnered with dozens of elite level professional athletes from leagues such as the NFL, MLB, MLS, CrossFit Games, NWSL, and NASL, to name a few.

Bear joins a lengthy list of valued Good Sports corporate supporters including ESPN, Dunkin Donuts, Nike, New Balance, Reebok, Under Armour, Wilson, Saucony, Spalding, Target, and Geico. The organization has achieved three consecutive four-star ratings from Charity Navigator, an accomplishment achieved by only 20% of all eligible charities.

“The Bear team understands the positive impact that athletics have on our children,” said Melissa Harper, CEO, Good Sports. “They are the ideal brand to help further the Good Sports mission, and their generous commitment will get more sports equipment into the hands of youth in need. We are pleased to welcome Bear to our roster of corporate supporters.”
